No Filipino infected so far with COVID-19 in mainland China, says Ambassador Sta. Romana

No Filipino in mainland China has so far contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), which has already killed thousands of people worldwide, Philippine Ambassador to Beijing Jose Santiago Sta. Romana said Monday.

“Sa mainland, hindi kasali ang Hong Kong at Macau, walang Filipino na nainfect ng COVID-19 hanggang ngayon. Magandang balita ito,” Sta. Romana said in a televised briefing.

A total of 335 overseas Filipinos have been confirmed to have the virus, including those in the Chinese special administrative regions Hong Kong and Macau, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) earlier said.

Most of the reported cases came from the Asia Pacific with 173.

Europe reported 86 cases and Middle East/Africa region reported 47 cases, while the Americas have 29 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
